Producing software tutorials for awareness

Focus:
Increasing product awareness
Timeline:
1 video per week
My Role:
Producer, host and video editor
The Team:
Marketing Producer (me), Marketing Director and CEO
The challenge
Produce one tutorial per week with the goal of increasing awareness of new software features.
This required working in close synchrony with the Product and Documentation teams to deliver accurate and timely information to users.
Since there was no designated presenter, I also hosted the videos.
Key Achievements
Total views across social media campaigns, affiliate programs, and organic traffic
Videos produced with a cross-functional team
Increased production by establishing a smooth workflow between departments
new subscribers gained in a highly niche market
Solution
I established a small, focused production team where each member had clearly defined responsibilities and ownership of specific parts of the process.
This structure allowed us to move quickly while maintaining alignment with product updates and marketing priorities.
Workflow
The process usually started with a request from the CEO, Product team, or Documentation team, who acted as stakeholders for the content.
Next, our copywriter gathered the key information and prepared the script.
Once scripts were ready, we scheduled recording sessions designed to capture multiple videos at once.
After recording, I handled the first edit, integrating screen recordings, voice-overs, and other supporting assets.
Finally, we conducted a review round with stakeholders before publishing the videos.
Final Thoughts
Creating a small, dedicated team was key to keeping production fast and efficient. Clearly assigning responsibilities from the beginning helped prevent bottlenecks.
Having scripts pre-approved and ready for the teleprompter significantly reduced revision time.
Batch recording sessions were essential for maintaining a cadence of more than one video per week.
Maintaining a fixed recording setup was also critical. Once everything was in place, all we needed to do was load the script into the teleprompter, turn on the lights, and press record.
