During my time at Planet 141, I worked on a trailer for the movie “Canchimalo Guerrero Marimaba” wearing multiple hats – compositor, lighting, and render artist. We initially gave Maya and Fusion a go for the 3D and composition bits, but then Blender’s Eevee, a cool real-time render engine, changed the game. Lighting and shaders got a makeover in Blender, with everything neatly wrapped up in a single render pass. Using Alembic files was a tricky but thrilling challenge, and we jazzed up the shaders with PBR textures. I also jumped into the driver’s seat for editing and sound mixing, using DaVinci Resolve.
